17th Nov 2008 - Lanarkshire's lottery bid needs your help

Viaduct in bid for lighting project

The Friends of Centenary and West End Park group have successfully managed to reach the final stage of the Big Lottery Peoples Millions Fund. They now find themselves head to head with other groups trying to obtain funding through this scheme.

The final stage consists of a telephone vote and the project gaining the highest number of votes gets the cash! If successful, the funding will be used to light up Lanarkshire's unique Victorian viaduct, built in 1868 and situated at the bottom of Centenary Park, Coatdyke in Coatbridge.

The lighting up of the viaduct will be of great benefit to communities, local schools in the design of the artwork for projected images and local charities through corporate sponsorship.

This is the only project in North Lanarkshire in consideration for the funding and it needs your help to win.

The television programme will be shown on STV on Wednesday 26 November at 6pm. Telephone voting lines will be open from 9am until midnight.
