12th Mar 2007 - Launch of the \'diet Coke\' and East Kilbride Half Marathon and 10k Fun Run

South Lanarkshire Provost, Mushtaq Ahmad, braved the weather to launch this year's ‘diet Coke' East Kilbride Half Marathon and 10K fun run.
The provost was one of three patrons for this year's nominated charity, the Kilbryde Hospice Appeal, attending the launch; he was joined by Andy Kerr MSP and Tony McGuinness chairman of the charity. Kenny Clements from East Kilbride Athletic Club, the race organisers, and Jim Duddy, from Coca-Cola Enterprises Ltd, were on hand to back the charity.
The 8th ‘diet Coke' East Kilbride Half Marathon & 10k Fun Run will take place on Sunday 24th June and will raise funds for the Kilbryde Hospice, a palliative care charity. The charity will receive £1 from each competitor's entry fee.
The races are open to anyone over 17 years of age. Entry is available online, http://www.ekhalfmarathon.co.uk/, or by calling the race hotline on 01698 476118. The deadline for entry is the 14th June 2007, but entries made before the 31st May are at a discounted rate of £17 for the Half Marathon and £13 for the 10k. After this date prices are subject to an additional £2 charge. Athletic Scotland members receive a further £2 discount.
