Launch of the Terminator with Rockstar drink

Energy drink Rockstar has become the exclusive soft drink sponsor of the UK's first purpose built tournament paintball field, the Terminator paintball arena near Cambuslang.

The Terminator, which opened at the end of May, is the UK's first and most expensive purpose built tournament paintball arena. Played at a faster pace, tournament paintball uses artificial turf and inflatable bunkers instead of trees. It is the format of choice for professional players.

The sponsorship deal sees Rockstar branding across the new arena. The operation's two premier packages will be named after energy drink and include a complimentary sample in a new 710ml size.

Irn-Bru makers AG Barr distribute Rockstar in the UK. The soft drink is positioned as a lifestyle brand, targeted at consumers in need of energy 24/7. It is marketed with the message ‘Double Size: Double Kick'. Designed for those who lead active and exhausting lifestyles.

Operated by adrenaline leisure spots business Scotkart, the Terminator is building a reputation as the best of its type in the UK. The site is introducing new players to tournament paintball and providing a world-class training facility for teams in Scotland.

Stewart Matthews, MD of the Terminator said, "The partnership with Rockstar is a natural fit for both parties. Both appeal to people drawn to alternative sports and adventure. Tournament paintball is exciting game based on energy, skill and performance and will appeal to consumers of energy drinks."

Ben Connolly Scottish Field Manager for Rockstar in Scotland, said, "Tournament paintball is hugely popular in the USA where the Rockstar brand sponsors a number of top teams playing in the premier league of paintball. The Terminator is an exciting facility and we think it is important to build relationships with new ventures like this and support interesting new sports."
