17th Jan 2008 - beCogent donates to Summerlee appeal

A generous donation from local business beCogent has boosted the Summerlee redevelopment appeal.
Airdrie based company beCogent presented a £5000 cheque to the chairman of the Friends of Summerlee Appeal, Gilbert Cox MBE JP, her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant of Lanarkshire.
Gilbert explains the importance of such donations: "Although the original £10 million cost of the redevelopment of Summerlee have been met, The Friends of Summerlee Appeal seeks to raise additional funding in sponsorships and donations to fund the cost of items not covered by the projects existing partnership funding.
"These.....include the further conservation of artefacts, new machinery for the engineering workshop, the provision of education and audio-visual aids, enhancing the landscape and other environmental improvements."
Jim Francis, Summerlee Marketing and Sponsorship Officer, adds: "It is gratifying to receive this very generous £5000 donation to the Appeal. To receive this from such a major employer in Airdrie does further recognise the close links built up over the years between Lanarkshire industry and the people, young and old, who will again enjoy visiting Summerlee, on its reopening in the summer."
