07th Mar 2008 - New interactive elements for Lanarkshire race website
One of Lanarkshire's most popular races has launched a new website and is looking for contributions from supporters and businesses.
The new website for the ‘diet Coke' East Kilbride Half Marathon and 10k Fun Run, www.ekhalfmarathon.co.uk, puts local runners and businesses at the heart of the site and organisers are looking for news, stories and information for the site.
The news section of the website will be regularly updated with the latest news about people running for charity, starting their own running groups or about businesses with special deals for participants. The forum is also a place for users to discuss the race, training tips or advice before and after the event. The organisers are also keen to hear from local businesses or groups that would be able to help promote the race to their employees or enter a team of runners.
The website's homepage features local runner profiles and pictures. By registering with the site, users can view a personal running page which can include personal running data and images. Registered users can view each other's profiles or, if they prefer, hide their own from public view. It also features improved and faster secure online payment, training tips, a gallery of last year's race and clips of the event.
Now in its ninth year the ‘diet Coke' Half Marathon and 10k Fun Run starts at the John Wright Sports Centre, East Kilbride on Sunday June 22nd 2008 at 9.30 am. Entry to the half marathon costs £17 and the 10k costs £13. Run Scotland members receive an additional £2 discount.
£1 of every entry goes to this year's nominated charity St Andrews Hospice.
